Is your firm ready for remote legal support?

Eight questions to answer before you evaluate anyone.

1. Which matter types or practice areas will this person support?
2. Which systems do they need to work in, and who grants access?
3. What can they handle without your review, and what must come to you first?
4. Who reviews their work, and how often? (Check your jurisdiction’s rules on supervising non-lawyer assistants.)
5. Is a confidentiality agreement in place before access is granted?
6. Which hours need coverage, and how will you communicate outside them?
7. How much time can you commit to onboarding in the first 30 days?
8. How will you know it is working at day 30?

If most of these have an answer, you are ready to look at profiles.
